About Thunder
Mountain Tours |
|
Mike Kuzara, owner-operator of Thunder Mountain tours is a life-long resident of
the Sheridan area. His grandfather arrived in the Dietz coal mining district north of
Sheridan in the year of 1900 from Chicago after immigrating from Poland in 1892. Three
generations grew up on the family farm there.
Mike grew up watching the signs of
the recent past melt into the landscape, but became intensely interested in the
conservation of that history when he joined the Powder River Corral of Westerners
International. As secretary of this western history group for half a decade, Mike realized
there was a need to provide access and information to visitors wishing to see and learn
more about a period of time and place that has sparked more interest, legend, romance,
books and movies than any other period of human history. Mike is
President of the Big Horn City Historical Society and a Member of both
the Sheridan County Historical Society and Montana Historical Society.
Thunder Mountain Tours was started
in the Summer of 2005 to provide visitors to the area and locals alike a rare glimpse into
this spectacular period in history. |

trains, 2 in Wyoming and 3 in Montana and can give a first hand testimony to the rigors
and the pleasures of 10 mile per day travel.
Thunder Mountain Tours has connections to other tour guides in the area and will be happy
to pass on information about them. Also available are a number of experts who are willing to step on the
tour. They include world class photographers, one retired museum director, one current
museum director, a retired game warden, a retired forest supervisor, civil war firearms
experts and re-enactors all well versed in local history and life in the 1800s. |
